Water Texture in Revit

The easiest way to create a water texture for your site is the following if your default browser does not show water as a material.

1.       On the Manage tab click on Materials.

2.       Changes are that you do not have Water as a default, so choose to make a new material by clicking on Create New Material.

3.       It will create something called ‘Default New Material’ and like your Generic Walls it has no real properties yet. Start by changing the name by right clicking and calling it something that’s easy to remember.

4.       With your new material named and selected, click to open the Asset Browser.

This should open a window that accompanies your Material Browser.

5.       In the Asset Browser search for Water. When the results pop up, hover your mouse over the material you wish to use and you’ll notice a small icon on the right side of that particular material that looks like two arrows. If you click on this icon, it will load that material property onto the Material that you created previously.

Now your Material should show to be water and not a default material. With this done, you can apply this material to anything that you create in your model. Like I suggested in class, I would suggest using it as a Floor so that’s it’s easier to manipulate the boundaries but there are a number of other ways to get the same result.
